After the AWS European Sovereign Cloud: what sovereignty really means
In January 2026 AWS launched its European Sovereign Cloud in Brandenburg — genuinely isolated, EU-staffed, at a ~15% premium. It is the most serious sovereign offering yet from a US hyperscaler.
But sovereignty is ultimately a question of jurisdiction, not just architecture. As long as the ultimate parent is US-headquartered, Cloud Act exposure and GAIA-X Level 3 remain unresolved. EU-native providers are the only ones that fall structurally outside that reach.
Citadea is one of them: a French company, French and EU law only, no US parent. We compete on sovereignty you can verify — and developer experience that does not make you choose.
